Iron crown of thorns

In a heroic effort to follow in the footsteps of Ötzi as he traveled through Austria's Alps near the Italian border, our team discovered what may well have been the thorn crown of a well known religious leader.

  Ötzi
Ötzi, or The Iceman, was the prehistoric man who was found near the Ötztal valley (Austria) in 1991 by Erica and Helmut Simon. Ötzi is believed to be some 5000 years old. You will find more information about Ötzi through the Iceman-site of the South Tyrol
Museum of Archaeology.

Experiments   Theory

As our team was treading in what we believed where the footsteps of Ötzi, we stumbled upon a finding which might become the most famous in the history of the ISmHW.
Members of our team were quick to recognise the features of the thorn crown and began experimenting with it immediately.
These experiments gave us the confidence that this actually might be (a replica of) the thorn crown of a well known religious leader.
We believe that the iron crown is actually the essential reason for Ötzi's fatal journey. The conjecture being that (at that time) findings of iron crowns of this type were spread all over Europe as a part of transubstantial profhecies for the next millennium. Ötzi, being a man of some intelligence, must have guessed a spot for a possible new finding from the pattern of older findings. Iron being extremely rare in his day and age, might have been the motive that set him off on his mission.
